The Yusuf Grillo Hall, Art Complex of the Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH, was filled with expectant and excited students of the College who for a while now, was tired of the government’s negligence and had come to take charge of their future and destinies at the Future Is Now seminar.
Organised by Bukasin Unique Touch, the seminar, which boasts of local and international mativational speakers and start-up entreprenuerial coaches, was aimed at prompting the youths to take charge of their future by understanding that they are responsible for what they become.
The convener of the seminar, Mr. Ebuka Ewuzi, said the power behind the seminar is to take ordinary men who have lost hope in the government to where they should be.
”We want people, especially students, know that they are responsible for their destinies and make that decision to succeed in life.
This is because today’s youth blame their misfortune on government, forgetting that they are the key players in how they turn out.”
On the choice of speakers, Ewuzi said they are young men and women who have fulfiled their potentials in life and have the passion to groom the next generation of leaders.
Pointing out that champions don’t wait for the future but work hard for the future to be now, the founder, I Am Champ Foundation, Mr. Abiola ‘Champ’ Salami, urged the students to work hard now so that their future would be better.
”Champions don’t sit in the now and think about their future but they work assiduously to ensure that their future is meaningful.
Where you are going is a place of wealth but it requires lots of hard work because nobody would pay for your talents but your skills.
”We can only go as far as our competence and the illiterates of the 21st Century are not those that can’t read nor write but those who can’t relearn.
This means that what you do now echoes into the future and determines if you would be a champion or a tramp.”
